VANCOUVER – A group of private investors has purchased the business of Marqui Inc., a Vancouver-based provider of on-demand marketing automation and website content management software.
Lance Neale, the group’s spokesperson, said the new owners were attracted by Marqui’s excellent products, outstanding customer base across North America, and a skilled team of employees dedicated to both product and service excellence in the web marketing industry.
“We have the resources to invest in Marqui to help ensure that the company meets the needs of customers now and in the longer term,” said Neale.
The investor group, which includes SIL Enterprises, Krystal Financial Corporation, Abraxus Holdings, and Ogilvie Communications, also owns WaterTrax, a Vancouver company that develops and markets software to help manage and monitor water quality in communities across North America.
Neale, who is CEO of WaterTrax and will be CEO of Marqui, said the acquisition is in line with the group’s goal of moving toward the creation of a multi-brand software-as-a-service (SaaS) company.
Marqui and WaterTrax will continue to operate as separate businesses, but some management functions will be combined. For example, Neale will be CEO of both companies, and James Griffiths will be joint CFO.
Neale’s business experience includes more than 20 years in publishing and marketing services.
“A significant part of my career has been working with the same type of customers as Marqui’s. During my career in publishing, I worked closely with marketing oriented companies to help them successfully define and meet their marketing investment objectives. I am looking forward to being back in a similar business again and bringing such a strong product and service mix to the table,” said Neale.
Marqui’s Vice President of Client Services, Jackie Reid, who will stay with the company, said the acquisition was a great outcome for Marqui and its customers.
“The resources that the new owners are prepared to invest in Marqui will bring stability to the company. We will be able to add new skills and expertise to our team and focus on expanding our products and service offering around the needs of our customers,” she said.
Reid added that customers will maintain existing relationships with Marqui staff and have continuity of service without having to worry about being switched to another product suite.
Neale said he was pleased that most of Marqui’s current employees had agreed to stay on and participate in building the new company.
“We have an excellent base team on which to build and will be adding to it as we move forward,” he said.
